OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/06/2026, Austin police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting Josh Ryan Trumble behaving erratically, bleeding, and attempting to enter homes in the area of the 7600 block of Grover Avenue. Officers located Trumble lying in a front yard and attempted to detain him while awaiting emergency medical personnel. During the arrest, Trumble pulled his hands beneath his body as officers attempted to handcuff him. Officer Justin Wright deployed a Taser, after which officers secured Trumble in handcuffs. Within seconds, Trumble became unresponsive. Officers began CPR and continued lifesaving efforts until Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived. Trumble was pronounced dead at the scene. The Travis County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death. The Austin Police Department, the Travis County District Attorney's Office, and Austin Police Oversight are investigating the in-custody death.
