On 06/12/2026, Milwaukee Police Department officers responded to the 8500 block of West Kaul Avenue after receiving reports of an armed robbery. Police identified 22-year-old Jaylyn Brown as the suspected gunman and located him inside a residence. Officers established a perimeter and attempted to negotiate with Brown for several hours. According to police, Brown exited the residence while armed with a handgun and failed to comply with officers' commands to drop the weapon. Officers fired, striking Brown. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured. The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team is conducting the investigation, with the Oak Creek Police Department serving as the lead investigative agency.
