On 06/11/2026, members of the Phoenix Police Department's Tactical Support Bureau located James U. Glenn, 56, who was wanted on a felony warrant in connection with an investigation involving sexual conduct with a minor. Officers followed Glenn's SUV near North 23rd Avenue and West Pinnacle Peak Road. A K-9 officer used a grappler vehicle interdiction device to stop the SUV, and another officer used an unmarked truck to pin the driver's door closed. According to police, Glenn remained seated inside the vehicle but raised a handgun and pointed it toward officers. Two officers then fired their weapons, striking Glenn. After officers determined it was safe to approach, Glenn was removed from the SUV. Phoenix Fire personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. A handgun was recovered from the vehicle. The Arizona Department of Public Safety is conducting the criminal investigation. The case will also be reviewed by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, and the Phoenix Police Department has opened an internal investigation.
