On 06/11/2026, Mansfield Borough police responded to a report of a suspicious person on North Main Street. Officers encountered Charles Costanzo, 34, of Old Forge. During the encounter, police attempted to take Costanzo into custody. An officer shot Costanzo, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The Pennsylvania State Police Major Case Team is investigating the shooting, and the Tioga County District Attorney's Office will review the officers' use of force.
