On 06/10/2026, Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to a crash scene on Interstate 11/U.S. 95 near the northbound entrance at Fourth Street. Troopers encountered a black Toyota 4Runner driven by Sean Shirazi, who allegedly attempted to drive through a lane that had been closed for emergency responders. Police reported that Shirazi drove through the crash scene, struck a semi-truck, and then accelerated while a trooper attempted to open the driver's door, pinning the trooper between the 4Runner and a fire truck. While pinned, the trooper fired six rounds at the vehicle before Shirazi drove away. Shirazi later stopped at a hospital, where officers discovered a female passenger suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead. Shirazi was arrested on multiple charges, including involuntary manslaughter related to the passenger's death. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the shooting.
