On 06/14/2026, Santa Clara police attempted to stop a 2002 Buick sedan after officers reported observing it being driven recklessly on Stevens Creek Boulevard, including driving on the center median and the wrong side of the road. Police reported that the driver did not stop and continued driving through Santa Clara before the pursuit entered San Jose. At approximately 12:19 a.m., the Buick ran a red light at the intersection of Naglee Avenue and Park Avenue and collided with a 2016 Toyota sedan. The female passenger in the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver sustained major injuries, was transported to a hospital, and was taken into custody by Santa Clara police. Two women in the Toyota were hospitalized with injuries later determined to be non-life-threatening.
