OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/14/2026, Senatobia Police Department officers responded to a reported shoplifting of diapers at the Walmart located at 235 Front Street. According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, officers encountered a vehicle connected to the call in the parking lot and at least one officer fired into the vehicle. A 1-year-old boy inside the vehicle was struck by gunfire and pronounced dead. A woman who was also inside the vehicle was critically injured and transported to a hospital. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation. Family members have publicly demanded answers regarding the child's death.
