OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/13/2026, members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force attempted to arrest Larry Lewis in the parking lot of a Walgreens at 12959 Aldine Westfield Road. Lewis was wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of Billy Jamison at a Walgreens several days earlier. A female suspect who was with Lewis was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities reported that Lewis was armed during the arrest operation. Before officers could take him into custody, Lewis shot himself. He died at the scene from the self-inflicted gunshot wound. No law enforcement officers fired their weapons during the incident. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed the circumstances of the death.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office investigated the death. The Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, which includes federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies led by the U.S. Marshals Service, conducted the arrest operation. Lewis had been identified by investigators as the suspect sought in the Walgreens homicide investigation involving Billy Jamison.
