OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/15/2026, Sweetwater Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 800 block of East 14th Street in Sweetwater. Deputies with the Nolan County Sheriff's Office also responded to assist. According to authorities, officers located an armed man at the scene, and additional gunfire was exchanged. Officers shot the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The Texas Rangers are conducting the independent investigation.
