On 06/16/2026, Metropolitan Police Department officers responded after reports that a woman had been shot in Northwest Washington, D.C. According to police, the man accused of the shooting boarded a Metrobus and was located a short time later after officers tracked the bus to the area of Porter Street NW and Connecticut Avenue NW. Officers evacuated the passengers before approaching the man. Police stated that the man appeared to reach for a firearm, and officers fired, striking him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman who had been shot before the encounter was transported to a hospital.
