On 06/15/2026, deputies with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office responded to a welfare check at a residence in the 17000 block of E. Blue Willow Lane after receiving reports that Sandra Keeme was threatening to harm herself and might have a firearm. When deputies arrived, they found Keeme being physically restrained. According to authorities, Keeme broke free, picked up a pair of scissors, and ignored officers' commands to stop. Deputies deployed Tasers, which police said were ineffective. Authorities reported that Keeme then walked to a vehicle, retrieved a firearm, and turned toward deputies, who fired their weapons, striking and killing her. The investigation remains ongoing.
