OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/16/2026, Quapaw Nation Marshals Service officers located a stolen vehicle from Joplin, Missouri, at the Downstream Casino and Resort near Miami, Oklahoma. When officers attempted to contact the occupants, the driver, 48-year-old Jason Mathew Moore of Columbia, Missouri, did not stop and continued driving, leading officers on a pursuit onto Interstate 44. During the pursuit, Moore drove the wrong way in the westbound lanes of the Will Rogers Turnpike while displaying a firearm. After officers stopped the vehicle near the Oklahoma Welcome Center at Exit 313, Moore exited the vehicle while armed. Officers gave commands, and shots were fired. Moore was struck and pronounced dead at the scene. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
