On 06/17/2026, a San Diego Police Department officer was driving a marked patrol vehicle westbound on the 5800 block of Linda Vista Road near Goshen Street when the officer felt an impact. After stopping and turning the vehicle around, the officer found a man lying in the roadway. The man, who was identified by the University of San Diego as one of its students, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at approximately 3:35 a.m. Police said it was unclear why the man was in the roadway, and the circumstances of the collision remain under investigation. The officer was not injured. The San Diego Police Department Traffic Division and Collision Investigations Bureau are investigating the crash.
