OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 05/27/2026, a Columbia County Sheriff's Office deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle for a traffic violation. The rider, 71-year-old David Drunasky of Sun Prairie, did not stop and continued driving, leading the deputy on a pursuit. During the pursuit, Drunasky attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone and entered the opposite lane of traffic, where his motorcycle collided nearly head-on with an oncoming pickup truck on Interstate 90 near County Highway V in the Town of Dekorra. Drunasky sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he later died. The driver of the pickup truck was not seriously injured. The Columbia County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash and publicly identified Drunasky on June 16, 2026.
