On 06/20/2026, Albert Nixon Richter IV died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during an armed standoff with San Antonio police at a residence on Red Hawk Ridge in San Antonio, Texas. Officers had responded to reports of gunfire and, after entering the home, rescued two children. Richter then fired from a closet, striking Officer Hunter Albrecht in the abdomen. Officers returned fire and continued attempts to take Richter into custody. After additional negotiations and the deployment of SWAT and crisis negotiators, a drone located Richter deceased inside the residence. The Bexar County Medical Examiner ruled his death a suicide, and the Texas Attorney General's investigation found no indication that police gunfire struck either Richter or the homicide victim.
