OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/20/2026, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to the Dairy Queen at 2871 North Avenue after reports that a woman had stabbed another person inside the restaurant. According to police, 31-year-old Patti Wilson then left the business and entered a vehicle. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but Wilson drove away and crashed nearby. Police reported that Wilson exited the vehicle armed with a knife and confronted officers. Officers then shot Wilson. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The stabbing victim was also transported to a hospital with serious injuries. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.
