On 06/20/2026, deputies with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office responded to a noise complaint involving a large block party on Sipes Avenue in Sanford shortly after 1:00 a.m. As deputies worked to disperse the crowd, two armed individuals began firing shots. According to the Sheriff's Office, one of the armed men fired multiple rounds in close proximity to a deputy. The deputy returned fire, striking the man. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Two other people sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident. No deputies were injured. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is conducting an independent investigation.
