OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/20/2026, law enforcement officers with the United States Secret Service attempted to stop a vehicle occupied by three individuals. The driver did not stop and continued driving, leading officers on a pursuit through northwest Washington, D.C. The pursuit continued onto the William Howard Taft Bridge on Connecticut Avenue NW, where the fleeing vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a moped operated by 39-year-old Aaron Watson. The fleeing vehicle then collided with a second vehicle before coming to a stop. Watson was pronounced dead at the scene. Two occupants of the second vehicle were transported to a hospital with injuries. Police arrested the three occupants of the fleeing vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing.
