On 06/05/2026, officers with the Fresno Police Department responded to a residence near South 11th Street and East Burns Avenue after family members reported that their adult son had arrived at the home, was not welcome there, had caused previous disturbances, and that there may have been a restraining order involving him. According to police, officers encountered the 42-year-old man outside the residence and reported that he was armed with a handgun. Police stated that officers gave commands before firing their weapons, striking the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Fresno County Multi-Agency Officer-Involved Critical Incident Team is investigating the shooting. The Fresno County Coroner's Office later identified the man as Ricardo Rafael Leon.
