OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/03/2026, Fayetteville Police Department officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver did not stop and continued driving. A North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper joined the pursuit. According to investigators, the driver reached speeds of approximately 111 mph before losing control on Cedar Creek Road and crashing into a tree. Three children, all passengers in the vehicle, suffered fatal injuries. Investigators reported that none of the children was properly restrained. The driver, identified as the children's mother, survived the crash and has been charged in connection with their deaths.
