OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/22/2026, deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff's Office responded to the 6000 block of Collins Street in Jurupa Valley following reports of a woman screaming and an unknown trouble call. According to the sheriff's office, deputies encountered a man in the street who advanced toward a deputy while swinging a hammer. Deputies reported giving commands for the man to drop the hammer, but he did not comply and continued advancing. A deputy then fired their weapon, striking the man. Deputies rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. Responding deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the woman who had been reported screaming. The Riverside County Sheriff's Force Investigation Detail is conducting the investigation.
