On 06/21/2026, officers with the Danvers Police Department responded to reports of a man threatening patrons with a firearm at a bar in Danvers. According to police, the man left the area in a red Chevrolet Corvette before officers arrived. Police later located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Authorities stated that the driver continued driving and reached speeds of approximately 150 mph while traveling on Route 1. The pursuit ended when the Corvette crashed near Exit 3. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police recovered a firearm from the vehicle. The incident remains under investigation.
