On 06/21/2026, officers with the Melissa Police Department responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the 2600 block of East Melissa Road at approximately 11:30 p.m. According to police, officers encountered an armed man and another occupant inside the home. During the encounter, an officer fired their weapon, striking the man. Officers rendered medical aid at the scene before the man was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
