On 06/25/2026, officers with the Detroit Police Department were serving a search warrant at a residence in the 18900 block of Rosemont Avenue on Detroit's west side. According to police, officers announced their presence before entering the residence and were met with gunfire. Police reported that a 20-year-old man fired multiple rounds at officers, striking a ballistic shield. Officers returned fire, striking the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
