On 06/25/2026, deputies with the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Office, assisted by the Conneaut Police Department, attempted to serve a felony arrest warrant at a residence in the 600 block of Orange Street. During the encounter, officers shot Brandon Butts. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating the shooting.
