OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/28/2026, officers with the Fairbanks Police Department, assisted by the Alaska State Troopers, encountered a man in the parking lot of Bentley Mall on College Road. During the encounter, officers shot the man. He was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Two Fairbanks police officers and one Alaska State Trooper were involved. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation. The involved trooper was placed on administrative leave in accordance with department policy. Authorities have not yet released additional information about the circumstances leading to the shooting.
