OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/27/2026, officers with the Village of Wappingers Falls Police Department responded to reports of a suicidal 17-year-old male on the Main Street Bridge armed with a knife. Officers from the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office also responded. Police stated the teen repeatedly refused commands to drop the knife and walked toward officers while still armed. A Dutchess County sheriff's deputy then shot him. The teen was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital, where he died from his injuries. The New York State Attorney General's Office is investigating the shooting.
