OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/28/2026, officers with the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to a residence on Pershing Street Northeast after Kasey Sedlock's brother called 911 to report that Sedlock was attempting suicide. Police stated Sedlock armed himself with a knife and repeatedly told officers to shoot him. Officers deployed Tasers multiple times, but Sedlock regained possession of the knife and advanced toward officers. An officer then shot Sedlock four times. He was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. The Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Task Force is investigating the shooting.
