OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 06/28/2026, Springfield Police Department officers responded to a shooting at a residence in the Northbrook Mobile Home Park on Peoria Road in Springfield, Illinois. Officers found a 33-year-old woman with life-threatening gunshot wounds to the face and shoulder and a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the arm. Investigators said 52-year-old Scott C. Schattl forcibly entered the residence, fired multiple shots, and left the scene. Illinois State Police later located Schattl's vehicle, leading to a multi-county pursuit. After the pursuit ended on North Kramm Road in Stark County, troopers approached the stopped vehicle and found Schattl dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Illinois State Police are investigating the death.
