On 06/28/2026, Clinton Police Department officers responded to a weapons disturbance at an apartment complex located at 412 Musgrove Street in Clinton, South Carolina. During the investigation, officers encountered 31-year-old Brodie Reese, who was armed inside an apartment. Officers shot Reese during the encounter. Officers rendered aid, but Reese died at the scene from a gunshot wound. No officers were injured. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is conducting an independent investigation into the fatal shooting at the request of the Clinton Police Department.
