On 06/28/2026, Livonia Police Department officers and firefighters responded to a reported explosion and house fire at a residence in the 20000 block of St. Francis Street in Livonia, Michigan. After firefighters extinguished the fire, officers located 61-year-old Roger Zebrowski in the backyard of a neighboring residence armed with a handgun. Officers attempted to negotiate with Zebrowski for an extended period. During the encounter, Zebrowski raised the handgun toward officers, and an officer fired, striking him. Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived, but Zebrowski was pronounced dead. Michigan State Police are investigating the fatal shooting, while Livonia police are conducting a separate investigation into the explosion and fire.
