On 07/03/2026, a man was shot and killed by California Highway Patrol officers following a vehicle pursuit that ended at a gas station at Arrow Highway and Citrus Avenue in Covina, California. Earlier that morning, the man had reportedly called a tow truck to the eastbound Interstate 210 Freeway shoulder near Grand Avenue in Glendora. According to CHP, an argument occurred between the man and the tow truck driver, during which the man allegedly shot the driver before fleeing. Officers located the suspect's vehicle and initiated a pursuit. Approximately ten minutes later, the pursuit ended at the gas station, where CHP stated the man exited his vehicle holding a firearm. Officers opened fire, striking him. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The tow truck driver was hospitalized in critical condition. No officers were injured. The California Department of Justice is investigating the shooting.
