On 07/01/2026, Ismael Jerrod Clark was shot and killed during an encounter with deputies at a Speedway gas station in the 10000 block of Dorchester Road in Summerville, South Carolina. Deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress involving Clark. According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, deputies located him at the gas station, where an encounter occurred that ended with deputies opening fire. Clark was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later confirmed that Clark had previously been shot by Dorchester County deputies at the same location in 2023 during an unrelated incident and had survived. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is conducting an independent investigation into the fatal shooting.
