On 07/02/2026, a 26-year-old man died after falling from elevated train tracks near Jerome Avenue and West 184th Street in the Fordham section of the Bronx. According to the NYPD, officers responded to the area shortly after 8:00 a.m. Police confirmed the man fell from the elevated tracks but did not confirm witness accounts that officers had been pursuing him beforehand. Witnesses told News 12 they saw the man running along the tracks while officers approached from opposite directions. They said he appeared to jump from the tracks and attempted to grab a nearby tree before falling to the street below. Officers reached him within minutes and began lifesaving efforts. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
