OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/06/2026, Baltimore Police Department officers assigned to the Warrant Apprehension Task Force attempted to arrest Maurice Daniels, 42, in the 3900 block of Reisterstown Road on multiple outstanding felony warrants. According to police, Daniels continued driving after officers attempted to stop his vehicle and struck several unmarked police vehicles before stopping. Police stated that Daniels then exited the vehicle with a handgun and moved toward officers. Officers fired, striking Daniels. He was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead. A handgun was recovered at the scene. The Maryland Office of the Attorney General's Independent Investigations Division is conducting the investigation. The officers involved have been placed on administrative administrative duties in accordance with department policy.
