OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/05/2026, Shreveport Police Department officers responded to a report of a fight in the 400 block of Spring Street in downtown Shreveport. Officers arrived and attempted to separate the individuals involved in the altercation.
According to police, 27-year-old Timothy Terrell Christian Jr. produced a handgun and fired, striking one officer. Another officer immediately returned fire, striking Christian. Officers rendered emergency medical aid until additional first responders arrived, but Christian was pronounced dead at the scene. The wounded officer was transported to a hospital with injuries that authorities described as non-life-threatening.
The Louisiana State Police were requested to conduct the independent investigation into the shooting. The officer who fired the fatal shots has not been publicly identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
