On 07/10/2026, Berrien County Sheriff's deputies in Michigan pursued a stolen 2019 Ford F-150 that crossed into Indiana on Interstate 94. Indiana State Police joined the pursuit after the vehicle entered LaPorte County. Sgt. Justin Heflin located the truck near U.S. 421 and Interstate 94, where the suspect vehicle collided with his patrol car. Authorities said Kevin Meyers then fired multiple shots from inside the truck, striking Sgt. Heflin several times before continuing to drive away. The truck was later found abandoned, and a large-scale search involving multiple law enforcement agencies was launched.
