OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/09/2026 during the evening, Reno Police Department officers located a homicide suspect from Montana in the parking area of an apartment complex at 6255 Sharlands Avenue in northwest Reno. Officers blocked the suspect's vehicle to prevent him from leaving and attempted to contain the situation. Additional assistance was requested from the Regional Narcotics Unit and the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.
Shortly after officers surrounded the vehicle, they heard a single gunshot coming from inside. Officers backed away, established a secure perimeter, and requested additional tactical resources before approaching the vehicle. After confirming the scene was secure, officers found the suspect in the driver's seat suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reno Police stated the man was wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in Montana. Detectives processed the vehicle, collected physical evidence, and coordinated with Montana investigators regarding the ongoing homicide investigation. The Regional Narcotics Unit and the Washoe County Sheriff's Office assisted Reno Police with the containment operation and investigation.
