OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/08/2026 at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers with the Carbon Hill Police Department and deputies with the Walker County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in the 100 block of Posey Road in Nauvoo to conduct a welfare check.
During the welfare check, officers encountered Christopher Scott Randolph, 47, of Nauvoo. According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Randolph produced a firearm during the encounter. A Carbon Hill police officer fired, striking Randolph. Randolph was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
At the request of the Carbon Hill Police Department, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) assumed responsibility for the officer-involved shooting investigation. SBI crime scene investigators processed the residence, collected physical evidence, documented the scene, and interviewed responding officers and witnesses. Upon completion, the investigative findings will be submitted to the Walker County District Attorney's Office for review.
Carbon Hill Police Chief Paul Anderson stated that because the SBI investigation is ongoing, the department would not release additional details until the investigation is complete. No further information regarding the involved officer has been publicly released.
