Event : Driver killed by police chase crash

OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/10/2026, a Placer County Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop the driver of a white Chevrolet Tahoe for speeding near the intersection of Gladding Road and Riosa Road. The driver continued driving, reaching speeds of approximately 90 mph on rural roads. The pursuit lasted several minutes before the Tahoe drove into a field near McCourtney Road and Fleming Road. Deputies lost sight of the vehicle and located it a short time later with assistance from the sheriff's helicopter in a remote area. Deputies found the driver critically injured and attempted life-saving measures, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The driver's identity has not yet been released.
