OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/11/2026, Omaha police officers responded to a report of an armed man near South 60th Street and Spring Street. Officers located the man and attempted to take him into custody. During the encounter, an exchange of gunfire occurred between the man and officers. Officers shot the man and immediately rendered medical aid until Omaha Fire Department personnel arrived. The man was transported to Nebraska Medicine, where he was pronounced dead. No officers were reported injured. The Omaha Police Department's Officer-Involved Investigations Team is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol as required by department policy. The man's identity has not yet been released.
