OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/06/2026, police responded to a disturbance on Grove Street in Peterborough. Officers found Jack Hutchings, 24, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. An off-duty Peterborough police officer was also found with stab wounds and was transported to a hospital. An autopsy determined that Hutchings died from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled the death a homicide. The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office stated that investigators are evaluating whether the off-duty officer acted in self-defense.
