OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/11/2026, members of the Bingham County Sheriff's Office and the Joint Investigation Division attempted to locate a man who was wanted on a confirmed felony warrant at a residence west of Shelley, Idaho. The man drove away, entered Interstate 15 while traveling the wrong way in the northbound lanes, and continued at high speed toward oncoming traffic. As deputies attempted to position spike strips, a Bingham County deputy used a Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT), causing the vehicle to roll off the roadway. The driver was ejected and died at the scene. The Eastern Idaho Critical Incident Task Force, led by Idaho State Police District 6, is conducting the investigation.
