On 07/11/2026, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a domestic violence incident at a residence in Wasilla, Alaska. According to troopers, 57-year-old Cecil Nelson had entered the residence without permission, assaulted the caller, and left before officers arrived. Troopers later located Nelson's vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but he continued driving, leading troopers on a short pursuit. During the pursuit, Nelson lost control of his vehicle and crashed. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
