OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/16/2026, members of the U.S. Marshals Service and Pensacola Police Department attempted to serve a manslaughter arrest warrant on 20-year-old Trevon Bradley in connection with the July 5, 2026, downtown Pensacola mass shooting that killed Phillip Sheppard Jr. and wounded six others. Police surrounded Bradley's apartment, announced their presence, and safely evacuated a woman and child from the residence. Bradley remained inside and did not surrender. During the standoff, multiple gunshots were heard from inside the apartment. Officers later deployed a remote-controlled camera into the apartment and found Bradley dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police stated there was initial uncertainty whether any shots had been directed toward law enforcement, but investigators later concluded the fatal wound was self-inflicted. Bradley had been identified by investigators as the person whose gunfire fatally struck 19-year-old Phillip Sheppard Jr. during the July 5 shooting, although police said the shooting appeared to have occurred while Bradley was returning fire during a gun battle involving multiple people. The death remains under investigation by the Pensacola Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
