Event : Motorcycle driver killed by police chase crash

OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/16/2026, Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to stop a motorcycle. The rider continued riding away while police pursued. The pursuit was discontinued approximately 10 to 15 minutes before the crash. Shortly before the collision, the Roseburg Police Department observed the motorcycle traveling northbound on West Lookingglass Road at a high rate of speed. The preliminary Oregon State Police investigation determined that 25-year-old Jackie Pearson Paul Willis lost control of the motorcycle while lane splitting at an extremely high rate of speed, causing it to crash in the roadway. Willis was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Oregon State Police are investigating the crash.
