On 07/02/2026, Alhambra Police Department officers were serving a search warrant in the area of Amar Road and Evanwood Avenue in La Puente when an undercover police van collided with a motorcycle operated by 46-year-old David Lorenzo Cano. The circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation.
Cano sustained critical injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two Alhambra police officers riding in the undercover van were transported to a hospital with injuries.
