OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/22/2026, investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol Tech Crimes Unit, assisted by Homeland Security Investigations personnel from Omaha and Grand Island, arrived at a residence at 202 Center Street in Marquette, Nebraska, to execute a search warrant as part of an investigation involving alleged child sexual abuse material. Investigators attempted to make contact with 47-year-old Chad Lammermann after arriving at approximately 7:00 a.m.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, investigators observed Lammermann move farther inside the residence instead of responding to their attempts to contact him. Moments later, officers heard gunshots from inside the home. Investigators withdrew from the residence and established a perimeter while the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT Team was activated. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to establish communication, the SWAT Team entered the home and located Lammermann with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators reported that no other individuals were inside the residence.
The search warrant was part of an ongoing child exploitation investigation being conducted by the Nebraska State Patrol Tech Crimes Unit with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations. Authorities have not released additional details regarding the underlying investigation, and the Nebraska State Patrol stated that the investigation remains ongoing.
