OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/24/2026 at approximately 8:56 a.m., Idaho County Sheriff's Office dispatch received a 911 call reporting two gunshots and screaming at a residence on Clear Creek Road near Clearwater. Idaho County deputies responded to investigate the report.
Deputies arrived and made contact with an adult male involved in the incident. During the encounter, shots were fired. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies were injured. Authorities have not publicly disclosed who fired first or the circumstances immediately preceding the shooting.
The Idaho County Sheriff's Office requested an independent investigation. The Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office and Idaho State Police responded to conduct the officer-involved shooting investigation. Investigators processed the scene, interviewed witnesses, and collected physical evidence.
