On 07/26/2026, Fort Worth Police Department officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at an apartment in the 9200 block of Renee Circle. According to police, Andrew Isaiah Ponce forced his way into the apartment and assaulted a person inside before officers arrived. Officers encountered Ponce outside the apartment holding a knife to his own throat. Police stated they repeatedly ordered him to drop the knife, but he continued advancing toward officers while armed. Officers then shot Ponce. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Family members later identified him as Andrew Isaiah Ponce, age 21, and said he had been struggling with mental health issues while working as an electrician's apprentice and attending counseling. The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
